Well, here it is...my big show
announcement! Now, if you were to say to me..."Pauline,
if you could choose one band to perform along with...who
would it be?". Well, most people who know me...would
know that answer. So, I am absolutely...and incredibly
honoured, excited, ecstatic...to tell you...that I have
been asked to play a show with my band, up at Sun Peaks
Resort on July 5th. "Who else is playing, you ask?".
Well, that would be my absolute, all-time favorite
Canadian Band...ever...Blue Rodeo.
I have been doing this "music thing" for a few
years...so this is an absolute dream job for me, and
very excited to share this news with you. Here are the
JULY 14, 2013 -
Well, after a 2 week, approximately 2,600 KM music
tour of Alberta...I'm
back safe and sound in the Okanagan. I am so glad I like
I had an amazing and wonderfully, musical time in
Alberta and would do it again in a heartbeat (which is
usually the way I plan for things of this nature. lol).
Had a great time with friends and met some wonderful new
ones. A great big "thank you" from the bottom of my
heart to all the wonderful people and venues, who
invited me to come out and play...so appreciated...and
so much fun. Hope I can come out and play for you again
After a quick break and a little sleep, I will be ready
for another round of shows here in the Okanagan and the
BC interior (some with the band this time), which should
be a nice change of pace.
Thank you Alberta. I "heart" you.

Awesome show at the Good Earth Coffeehouse in Canmore. A
big, big thanks to Diane for all her hard work promoting
the show...she's amazing. Had a very attentive and
appreciative audience, which is always so wonderful. A
wonderful live music venue, check it out if you are ever
out that way.
Also had the pleasure of being interviewed by Deborah
Jean from 106.5 Mountain FM -
http://www.mountainfm.ca The interview will be
aired on their station on Monday and will be available
to stream on their website. Will let you know when it's
posted. It's funny... Deborah Jean asked me, if there
was one person I would like the opportunity to perform
with and I immediately answered "Jim Cuddy"...she told
me that she had just interviewed him and that he would
be back to play the Canmore Folk Music Festival in
August. I told her to put a good word in with Jim, for
me. A duet with Jim Cuddy is on my bucket list. Yes, it

HAPPY NEW YEAR! Another year has come and gone. I sure
hope everyone enjoyed the holiday season. As you
can probably tell by looking at my show schedule, I
have taken a couple months off to relax and do a bit
of songwriting. I hope to have a few new tunes to try
out on you, when I get back on the musical road.
It's been a nice break, but I am looking forward to
getting back to work by adding lots of new shows,
maybe a small tour and music festivals to my calendar
soon. Stay tuned for a show near you. I look forward
to seeing you!

Just returned from my first trip to the Nashville
Songwriter's Association's Songposium in Nashville
Tennessee, which was sponsored, in part by the
generous financial support of FACTOR, the Government of Canada
through the Department of Canadian Heritage (Canada
Music Fund) and of Canada's Private Radio
I had the great honour of performing at the legendary
"Bluebird Cafe" on September 17th. I have to say
that as a songwriter, it is quite a thrill to play the
same venue as some of the biggest songwriters and
singers in the business.
I also managed to take in a few other shows at the
Bluebird, while I was there. One of the shows included
a songwriter's round with Country Hall of Fame
inductee, singer/songwriter Bill Anderson. He
has written many great songs, including one of my
favorites "Tips of My Fingers", which he also
performed during the evening.
August, 2012 -
The summer season was off to a late start here
in BC, but it's sure been making up for it lately. It
has been keeping pretty warm here (in the mid-30's
(that's celsius for those of us on the metric system,
which is about 95 on the fahrenheit scale), but we
aren't complaining because you just know that Winter
will be back upon us and we're going to be complaining
about the snow.
It's been a fairly busy summer so far. I have
been playing lots of solo shows and also some shows
with the band, which is always lots of fun.
The band and I played on the Island Stage, Waterfront
Park in Kelowna, BC on August 1st and also had lots of
fun playing SUNFEST 2012 on August 5th in Duncan, BC.
Below is a little clip of the action backstage before
We met lots of interesting and awesome people at
Sunfest and had the honour of sharing the big stage
with some great musical talent including, The Chris
Buck Band, The Charlie Daniel's Band and the Kentucky

Below: Had the opportunity to meet and have a
photo taken with the fellas from The Kentucky
Headhunters. They put on a great show at Sunfest.
Great guys! :)
We also were very lucky to have the talented Kortney
and Dave Wilson from CMT, emcee and play at the event.
They are both great people and feel very lucky to have
had the chance to meet them too.
I have a few more solo shows booked for August
and then will be headed down to the US to attend the
East 542 Music Festival in Deming, Washington. Right
after that, I am off to Nashville, Tennessee to attend
the Nashville Songwriter's Association "Songposium". I
very excited and am looking forward to sharing my
adventures with you from Music City.
Thanks again for your support and enjoy the rest of
your summer and all the good things, that it brings.

I arrived in Merritt on Thursday, with some overcast skies, so
the weather was a bit cooler...which I am grateful for. It can get pretty hot in
Merritt (partly desert), so enjoyed the break from the heat that day. The fair
grounds is located in a small valley beside the Coldwater River.
Mountain Music Festival grounds.
Singer/Songwriter's - "It All Started with a Song" event (Mountainfest
Activity Tent) From left to right: Chad Brownlee, Tracy Millar, Pauline
Kyllonen, Marion Weston & James Lee Harris Jr., Karen Fowlie, Gary La Rose
and Art Pruce
I performed at the "It All Started with a Song" event at 11:30
am...along with some other very talented songwriter's. Then, it was back into
town for a quick show rehearsal with the band March Hare. March Hare is
an awesome band from Vancouver, BC. I was very fortunate to have them backing me
up for my show, later that evening.
After rehearsal, I had a few hours to relax before
the show. So, I drove around Merritt for a bit, found a place to grab a
quick bite to eat and freshen up, and then headed back to the fair grounds for
my show at 8 PM.
Well, I must say it was quite the experience. It was
my largest audience to date and I had a great time. It's funny...during
the show, the rain clouds started to slowly move in. During the last half of my
final song, it started to sprinkle rain and then literally as I hit the last
note on my guitar, the rain began to pour, which sent everyone running for
cover. Talk about lucky for me, I do believe someone was holding off the rain
until I finished my set. :0)
For those of you, who couldn't make it out to the
show....I have posted a short clip of the performance on YouTube at:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YAny3S27dHI Have a look, when you have
a minute....and be sure to leave me a comment. I really love hearing from you!
After the show, I decided it was time to drive back
home. It was a very long, but exciting day for me....I was tired...and I had
been up since 5 AM that morning. Before I close though, I just have
to share another short story about my trip.
I decided to stop and buy a coffee for the drive
home, and was looking for what else?...a Tim Horton's. I spotted a couple of RCMP
officers on the corner and thought, well they have to know where I can find one.
Well, when I asked them...they just laughed. They said, "That's a bit
stereotypical isn't it". Actually, I hadn't thought that when I asked the
question...but yes, and I laughed too. Turns out, they weren't from Merritt, but
from Alberta. I assume that they were on loan for the festival. As luck would
have it....they did know where the Tim Horton's was. LOL
They asked where I was from and what I was doing in
Merritt. I told them I was in town to perform at the festival. One of the
officers mentioned that his wife had asked him to make sure he brought home a
souvenir from the festival, while he was there. I believe she requested
something along the lines of a bottle opener, with an autograph. I told him that
I couldn't give him a bottle opener, but I did have a CD that I could sign and
he could give that to her. Well, I signed a few CDs and gave them to him. I told
him that it was to thank him for their kind assistance with the directions.
He wouldn't take the CDs for free and ended up buying four.
Well, it turned out to be a wonderful trip. I met
many great new friends and I can't wait to do it again. Just a reminder that I
have a show coming up in Clinton on August 15th. I just found out that I may
have a couple dates, coming up in Alberta. Not sure of the location, dates and
times at this point...but will post them to my calendar when they are confirmed.
That's it for now. Thanks again for your support.
Stay safe and enjoy your summer and I hope to be playing in a place "near you"
soon. Take care.
